A high-return photovoltaic program has begun in the Prefecture of Evia. The Program for the Development of Photovoltaic Systems up to 10KWh on Buildings, and is open to homeowners and small businesses. The program can nearly cover the cost of a home.
A profitable investment, it can provide a guaranteed income for at least 25 years, as the electric company is committed upon the signing of the contract to purchase the electric we produce at 55 cents/KWh. The yearly income from the sale of electricity is tax-free under current law. The entire cost of BOTH the home and the photovoltaic system can be financed through a bank loan, which is then paid off through the sale of electricity to the electric company. In other words, the electric company will pay the bank the sum of about 650 euros a month, the approximate payment on a loan of 125.000€. (see loan payment chart)
